The Audition, the long-anticipated psychological drama written and directed by Liam Bryan, has finally been released, and it’s already sparking powerful reactions from early viewers. At the center of the film is Joseph Cohen, whose haunting and emotionally charged performance as Elias Grimwood stands as the beating heart of this gripping short.
A Portrait of Pressure, Passion, and Psychological Unraveling

The newly released film expands upon the tension hinted at in its chilling trailer. This time, audiences are pulled deeper into Elias’s mind as he prepares for what should be a routine audition, but quickly spirals into something far more unsettling. Joseph Cohen delivers raw, authentic emotion, portraying a young actor overwhelmed by pressure, self-doubt, and the weight of everything he’s sacrificed for his craft.

In one of the film’s most memorable moments, Elias confesses, “I used to love acting. I’d die for it.”
A Turning Point No One Sees Coming

As Elias steps into the audition room, he faces two casting directors, one cold and demeaning, the other quietly encouraging. The dynamic pushes Elias to his limit. What happens next is a shocking shift in tone, a moment where reality and emotion collide in a way that will leave audiences breathless.

Elias makes a sudden decision that changes the entire direction of the scene. There’s a gesture, a movement, a choice so unexpected that viewers will be on the edge of their seats. The film deliberately leaves the moment open to interpretation, allowing the audience to sit with the tension rather than spelling out what may—or may not—be happening.
