Horror history is officially coming full circle. According to exclusive reporting by Deadline, principal photography has officially wrapped in Kentucky on Twilight of the Dead, the final chapter of the legendary zombie franchise created by the late master of horror, George A. Romero. Based on a treatment and story left behind by Romero before his passing in 2017, the film is designed to bring his iconic dead saga, which began with 1968’s genre-defining Night of the Living Dead, to its ultimate conclusion.
A Stellar Cast Led by Kate Beckinsale
The highly anticipated project has an impressive cast.
Headlined by Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), the film features Betty Gabriel, Abigail London, Kurt Deimer, Phil Burke, Cooper Barnes, Tait Fletcher, and John D. Hickman.
Directed by the Paz Brothers (Doron and Yoav Paz) with special makeup effects engineered by legendary collaborator Greg Nicotero, Twilight of the Dead aims to honor Romero’s distinct vision while delivering a hard-hitting, visceral experience for modern audiences.
Highlighting John D. Hickman: A Roles in Action and Horror

For John D. Hickman, stepping into Romero’s cinematic world is another major milestone in an already prolific career spanning high-profile studio films, action hits, and thrillers.
John has built an impressive resume sharing the screen with some of the industry’s heaviest hitters, including Bruce Willis, Al Pacino, Morgan Freeman, Nicolas Cage, and Anne Heche. Some of his standout film credits include:
- The Action & Thriller Space: Playing Sheriff Bob Lilly in the Warner Bros. action feature Gunner, Tom in The Vanished (opposite Anne Heche), and appearances in The Wrath of Becky, Jiu Jitsu (starring Nicolas Cage), Fortress, and Wrong Place.
- Television & Drama: Memorable small-screen work, including a stint as Mr. Fell in the final season of The CW’s hit series The Vampire Diaries.
With filming now officially wrapped, Twilight of the Dead moves into post-production. While Magenta Light Studios has yet to announce an official theatrical release date, the completion of photography marks a monumental step forward for horror fans eager to witness the final piece of George A. Romero’s legendary puzzle.
