Q: In film, what would you say is your fav genre in roles you play (Drama, Comedy, Action, a little bit of all)?
Blessing Lee – A: I’ve always been more attracted to Drama than any other genre because I just love the emotional, vulnerable side of film and have always fantasized about being a dramatic actress. I do love a lot of comedic actors such as Kristen Wiig and Amy Poehler and Bill Hader – basically all the great actors that have come out of SNL. I don’t consider myself to be even remotely funny, so I have a lot of respect and admiration for people who are. I also grew up with a lot of action films especially from Asia, starring movie moguls like Jackie Chan, so it’s always been a dream of mine to play a spy or the effortlessly cool martial arts prodigy.
Q: Blessing, you are also emerging in the fashion industry! Who are your fav fashion designers you’d like to work with?
Blessing Lee – A: One of the most undeniably popular fashion brands right now is Jacquemus. The brand caught my attention before I even knew how big it was because of its bright, simple and minimalistic, yet elegant designs. Another fashion brand I’d like to work with is Chanel because how many other designers can make tweed sexy? I have always had a thing for classy, feminine apparel because of the grace and delicacy it exudes. The late Dame Vivienne Westwood is another all-time favorite of mine. Her style is the opposite of minimalistic, and the designs are so genius and immaculate and are often cluttered in a way that perfectly complements the wearer. My personal favorite pieces almost always have a feminine, ethereal aesthetic to them. Donatella Versace is iconic. Finally, the French fashion brand Mugler has made many fall in love with its sleek, outstanding designs, including myself, and it would be an honor to work with them in the future.
Q: How would you explain your sense of style when you are not modeling for designers?
Blessing Lee – A: I love very feminine clothing, especially ones that complement my favorite features such as my neck and shoulders. They are usually minimalistic but complement my figure.
Q: Can you share with us something people may not know about you? Any hobbies or other secret talents you have and or like to do in your spare time?
Blessing Lee – A: I recently took up dancing! Of course, it’s only in the privacy of my room, and it is mostly for me so there isn’t formal training, but I do dance with the intention of performing for the world one day.
I like to sing and play the piano.
I also help my parents at their sushi place, so I know how to make a pretty good roll! It’s also one of the few foods I can actually make, so you can scratch cooking off of the list.
I love photography, especially street photography.
I also love to watch movies and tv shows, some of which include The Shawshank Redemption, Singin In The Rain, Pride and Prejudice, Fleabag, and a guilty favorite: Alice in Wonderland (dir. Tim Burton).
I also listen to a lot of music, mostly Lana Del Rey, Mid-Air Thief, and the entirety of the Chungking Express soundtrack.
I also recently got into Kpop, which has been interesting to say the least. I actually grew up surrounded my K-pop and people who loved the genre, so I am a little late to the party.
I occasionally jot down ideas I have for a short story or a potential plot line or even a monologue.
And here’s a fun fact: I was born and raised in Myanmar, and I’ve been to 5 different countries (Myanmar, Singapore, Turkey, Malaysia, and U.S.).
