Actor Thomas Fazekas is quickly rising across independent films, television series, commercials, and crime dramas. With a distinctive look, a growing list of roles, and a passion for the filmmaking process, Thomas is focused on building a career that feels authentic to who he is.
In our exclusive interview, Thomas spoke about what inspired him to pursue acting, the projects he’s most excited about, and why confidence, professionalism, and persistence have become the foundation of his career.
Thomas Talks the Inspiration Behind His Acting Career

While many actors discover performing at a young age, Thomas says his journey into entertainment began with something much simpler.
“I really wanted to be in a magazine,” he shares with a laugh. “Ultimately, my first goal was to be the face of a brand. I wanted to hold a glass of whiskey and be in those kinds of photographs.”
That curiosity led him to take professional headshots, which he submitted to only a few agencies across Canada, the United States, and Europe. It wasn’t long before each agency he reached out to wanted to sign him.
“I have a distinctive look,” Thomas explains. “That’s what started this whole thing.”
As he spent more time on film sets, his passion quickly shifted from simply being in front of the camera to appreciating every aspect of production.
“I love the whole process of putting it together. When people watch a movie, they don’t realize how much work goes into one scene. That’s why I enjoy being on set, watching everything come together.” Today, Thomas says filming remains his favorite part of the job. “Being in the moment and actually doing the work is what I enjoy the most.”
Building a Career One Role at a Time

Rather than chasing every opportunity, Thomas has been intentional about the kinds of characters he wants to portray.
“I feel where my strength is right now is detectives, lawyers, CEOs, executives—that type of role.”

Crime dramas have become a natural fit, with Thomas citing actors like Michael Douglas, Jon Hamm, Alec Baldwin, Andy Garcia, and Leonardo DiCaprio as performers whose careers have influenced the direction he’d like to follow.
His growing list of projects includes My Rich Best Friend, where he plays hiring manager Mr. Collins, The Artist, portraying an FBI agent, and the television series The Building In Between, where he takes on one of his biggest role yet as Detective David Lassiter.
Without revealing too many spoilers, Thomas hinted that his detective character carries a supernatural twist.
“The audience doesn’t know that I’m actually not alive,” he says. “Season two is all about how I became that way.”
Why Professionalism Matters

Thomas credits much of his early success to approaching acting with a business mindset.
“I looked at it as crawl, walk, run.”
His first goal was simply to gain experience by appearing on professional productions and learning how sets operate. From there, he progressed into speaking roles and is now pursuing larger supporting characters.
“The opportunities today are so much bigger than they used to be,” he says. “There are independent films, streaming platforms, television—there are so many ways to get started.”
He also believes reliability is one of the industry’s most valuable qualities.
“Sometimes professionalism is simply showing up on time, knowing your lines, and being someone people can count on.”
