For Aaron Matthew Atkisson, returning to live music after nearly two decades away has been about more than simply stepping back onto a stage. It has been a return to the creative outlet that has remained an important part of his life. Now performing with Petty On Purpose, a band that has been together for nearly two years, Aaron is embracing a new chapter as a live performer, one shaped by experience, renewed confidence, and a lifelong connection to music.
The band is set to perform September 19 at The Pour House in Wyandotte, Michigan, followed by another special appearance on October 28 at 8 p.m. on The Man Cave Show, which will also be streamed on YouTube.
Ahead of the upcoming performances, we spoke exclusively with Aaron Matthew Atkisson about what music means to him, returning to the stage after roughly 20 years away from the music scene, overcoming stage fright, and what audiences can look forward to next.

RETURNING TO THE STAGE
Q: How does it feel to make your comeback and perform live again?
Aaron Matthew Atkisson A: My band, Petty On Purpose, has been together for almost two years now, but prior to the band, I was out of the music scene for roughly 20 years. It’s been an incredible feeling being back on stage in front of so many people. Growing up, I had debilitating stage fright, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve been able to control that feeling and turn it into passionate performances.
