One of Genel Mejia’s latest projects, Muse, places him in multiple creative roles as writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and editor. The film follows a simple but intriguing premise: “A film director searches for his Muse.” While straightforward in description, the story ventures into surreal territory through visual storytelling and atmosphere-driven imagery. Rather than relying strictly on dialogue-heavy scenes, the film leans into emotion, mystery, and artistic symbolism.

The cast of Muse includes Regg Davidson as Blair, Tristan Hissong as Bryan, Victor Chavez, Maritza Mejia, and Laura Nimr as The Witch. Supporting production contributions included set decoration by Jeff Licht, sound work by Don Edward Green, and script supervision from Justin Suran.

The project has already received recognition on the festival circuit, earning honors at the Crown Point International Film Festival, where Muse received Best Horror Feature Film and Best Editing Feature Film awards in June 2025. The editing recognition carries added significance considering Genel also served as editor on the film.

The official premise follows Goethe’s Faust after making a pact with Mephistopheles as he ultimately discovers redemption and transcendence through the ideal of the Eternal-Feminine.

Like Muse, Genel again takes on multiple creative responsibilities, serving as director, producer, cinematographer, editor, and co-writer alongside Justin Suran. The cast includes Regg Davidson as Faust, Tristan Hissong as Goethe, Maritza Mejia as Magna Peccatrix, Molly Miklos in multiple roles including voice work, along with Laura Nimr and Victor Chavez.
