Ahri Banks is a talented singer making her mark in the music industry. Ahri is originally from the Caribbean and currently resides in Chicago. She has released 2 singles already and has great things lined up for her music career! We had chance to interview artist Ahri Banks, check out the full interview below:
Q & A WITH AHRI BANKS ON STARZ TREASURE
Q: Ahri, at what age did you start singing and when realize you wanted to pursue singing professionally?
Ahri Banks – A: I started singing at the age of 8 with the Chicago Children’s Choir and stayed actively involved with the Chicago Children’s Choir until I was 18. I was able to travel and tour the world internationally with this amazing organization. Once I graduated from high school, I knew that music was my passion and I wanted to keep singing, so I decided to pursue music professionally and enrolled in the music program at Northeastern Illinois University.
Q: What motivates you and inspires you to be the best at your profession?
Ahri Banks – A: Wanting the best for myself and not settling motivates me to keep going, to keep pushing. If I stop taking steps forward, I will never get to my destiny, the calling on my life. I continue to want more for myself, but in a healthy and balanced way. This motivates me even if some people aren’t on board with what I’m doing. Another thing that motivates me are my biggest supporters and fans. Their words of encouragement help me when I feel stuck and unable to create.
God’s creation inspires me. I don’t believe in having one person/or thing to be inspired by. The world we live in and the people are from God’s creation. Living in this society, everything is evolving and changing constantly, and with me being a creative, I’m inspired by its everlasting change. This helps my music evolve, keeps me aligned with the times, and allows me to be the best at my profession.
Q: If you would collab with a musician for a new single, who would it be and why?
Ahri Banks – A: I would love to collab with G Herbo and/or Lil Durk, two rappers from my hometown Chicago. I have watched them come from my city and rise to the top. Which proves to me that I too can rise to the top. I think it’s awesome when established artists go back to their hometown and collab with other rising artists. It’s such a good teaching moment and a way to give back to others in the same field.
Q: You have released two amazing singles “Set Me Free” and “Insecurities”. What do you love most about the songs and how was the process in the recording studio ?
Ahri Banks – A: What I love most about these singles are that they are so full of raw emotion. These were my first singles ever and it was during the start of the pandemic. I was so filled with emotions at the time that this was the best outlet for me to let everything out. I wrote everything at home in my apartment and when I got to the recording studio I just let my emotions and my voice run free.
